Lesson Formats & Attendance
Lessons are given from my studio in Nashville, online over Zoom, or in home in 55 minute increments.
Private lessons are reserved for the enrolled student only. Students may not bring guests, friends, or other additional attendees to a lesson without the teacher’s prior approval. Any additional attendee must be approved in advance. A private lesson does not become a shared or group lesson because another person accompanies the student. Parents or legal guardians of minor students may attend when appropriate and arranged with the teacher.
Private One-to-One Lessons
Standard tuition for weekly 55-minute in-studio or online lessons is $405/month. Standard tuition for weekly 55-minute in-home lessons is $505/month. Jamsville Guitar Studio reserves the right to adjust tuition rates with at least 30 days’ written notice. If lessons are discontinued and restarted later, the standard tuition rate and availability in effect at the time of return will apply.
Group Lessons
Small-group lessons are available for groups of two to four students when mutually arranged and scheduled. Weekly group lessons are 55 minutes and are billed on a recurring monthly tuition basis. Monthly group tuition for in-studio or online lessons is $570 for two students, $700 for three students, or $825 for four students. For group lessons provided at a mutually agreed-upon in-home location, monthly tuition is $670 for two students, $800 for three students, or $930 for four students. Group lessons are not eligible for private-lesson discounts.
Group tuition reserves one recurring lesson time for the group. Each member of the group is responsible for attending the scheduled group lesson. If an individual student is absent, late, or otherwise unable to attend, the lesson will proceed as scheduled for the remaining students, and the absent student's portion of the lesson cannot be refunded, credited, or made up individually.
Group pricing is based on the number of students actively enrolled in the group. If the number of enrolled students changes, tuition will adjust to the applicable group rate beginning with the next billing period. If a two-student group is reduced to one student, the group arrangement will end. The remaining student may continue with private lessons at the standard private-lesson tuition rate then in effect, subject to scheduling availability, or may discontinue lessons in accordance with the normal discontinuation policy.
Group lessons are otherwise subject to the applicable payment, scheduling, cancellation, rescheduling, attendance, conduct, and other Studio policies contained in this agreement. Rescheduling a group lesson requires agreement between the teacher and the group and remains subject to the Studio's normal rescheduling limitations and teacher availability.
Back-to-Back Family Lessons
Back-to-back private lessons may be offered for two students in the same household at the same in-home location when mutually arranged and scheduled. Each student receives a separate 55-minute private lesson in consecutive time slots. The discounted tuition for this arrangement is $925/month total for both students. This discounted rate applies only while both students remain continuously enrolled in consecutive lessons at the same location and cannot be combined with other discounts.
If either student discontinues lessons or the lessons can no longer be scheduled consecutively at the same location, the discounted arrangement ends. Any student who continues may do so at the applicable standard tuition rate then in effect, subject to scheduling availability. Back-to-back family lessons are otherwise subject to the applicable payment, scheduling, cancellation, rescheduling, attendance, conduct, in-home, and other Studio policies contained in this agreement.
Tuition & Payment
Weekly recurring lessons are reserved on a monthly tuition basis. Introductory lessons are booked and paid for by credit or debit card through Stripe. If a student enrolls in recurring lessons, the student completes and electronically signs this Agreement. By signing, the student authorizes Jamsville Guitar Studio to charge the student's saved Stripe payment method for any applicable initial or prorated enrollment amount and subsequent recurring monthly tuition billed in advance until enrollment is discontinued under the 30-day written-notice policy below. The payment method is securely stored by Stripe's payment infrastructure; Jamsville Guitar Studio does not store raw card information. Advertised tuition is the actual tuition charged; card-processing costs are included and are not separately charged. Recurring monthly tuition is charged between the 26th and the 28th of the month before the month it covers, normally on the 28th (for example, October tuition is normally charged on September 28).
Students are responsible for maintaining a valid payment method. If a recurring payment fails, payment must be brought current promptly in order to maintain the student's reserved recurring lesson time.
Recurring tuition is based on 46 scheduled lesson weeks per annual teaching cycle and is divided into equal monthly payments regardless of whether a particular month contains four or five scheduled lesson dates.
Initial Enrollment Proration: When a student begins recurring lessons after the start of a calendar month, the initial recurring tuition charge will be prorated based on the number of the student’s regularly scheduled recurring lesson dates remaining in that month compared with the total number of regularly scheduled lesson dates for that student in that month. The introductory lesson, if applicable, is separate and is not included as a recurring lesson for purposes of the initial charge. For example, if a student enrolling at the standard $405/month rate has four regularly scheduled weekly lesson dates in the enrollment month, has already completed the first date as a separately paid introductory lesson, and has three recurring lesson dates remaining, the initial recurring tuition charge would be 3/4 of $405, or $303.75. Beginning with the following monthly billing period, the student will be charged the full applicable monthly tuition. This initial-enrollment proration applies to all recurring lesson formats and tuition rates and does not alter the Studio’s normal equal-monthly-payment tuition structure after enrollment begins.
For purposes of the annual teaching calendar, a holiday closure week is the Monday-through-Sunday calendar week containing the applicable holiday. No recurring lessons are scheduled during the Studio's four regular holiday closure weeks: July 4, Thanksgiving Day, December 25, and January 1.
In addition, Jamsville Guitar Studio may designate up to two additional Monday-through-Sunday studio-closure weeks per annual teaching cycle. Whenever possible, students will be told about any additional studio-closure week at their lesson the week before, and in every case they will be notified by email or text no later than the Friday before the closure week. Regular holiday closures and additional studio-closure weeks are included in the annual tuition structure and do not require a makeup lesson, refund, or tuition credit.
New students may begin with one introductory 55-minute lesson for $75, in-studio, online or in-home. If two people want separate back-to-back introductory lessons, each lesson is charged separately at the applicable introductory rate, with no discounted back-to-back introductory rate. No ongoing commitment is required to take the introductory lesson. Standalone lessons after the introductory lesson are $135 each in-studio or online, or $160 each in-home, are available as scheduling permits, and do not reserve a recurring lesson time.
Other recurring options, when offered and mutually scheduled, are: biweekly lessons at $240/month for two 55-minute lessons per month, and twice-weekly lessons at $670/month. Weekly lessons remain the standard recurring format. Recurring tuition provides a reserved lesson time and continuity from lesson to lesson at a lower effective lesson rate than standalone lessons.
Recurring Enrollment & Discontinuation
Recurring lesson time slots are reserved for enrolled students. Requests to change a recurring lesson time must be made as early as possible and, if approved, will take effect beginning with the next monthly billing period or a later mutually agreed-upon month. Recurring lesson time changes are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. Requests to reschedule an individual lesson are governed separately by the cancellation and rescheduling policies below.
Recurring lesson times cannot be placed on unpaid hold. A student who wants to stop recurring lessons for a period of time must discontinue enrollment under the normal discontinuation policy. If the student later returns, scheduling is subject to availability and the standard tuition rate then in effect.
Discontinuing recurring lessons requires at least 30 days’ written notice by email or text message. The notice must clearly state that the student intends to discontinue recurring lessons. Missing a lesson, requesting a reschedule, failing to attend lessons, or becoming non-responsive to communications does not constitute notice of discontinuation. Students are responsible for communicating their intent to discontinue lessons; Jamsville Guitar Studio is not responsible for repeatedly attempting to contact a non-responsive student to determine whether the student intends to continue or discontinue enrollment. Enrollment remains active until proper notice of discontinuation is provided. Tuition and the reserved recurring lesson time remain in effect during the 30-day notice period.
Jamsville Guitar Studio reserves the right to discontinue a student's enrollment when necessary. Any prepaid tuition attributable to lessons that will not be provided as a result of the studio terminating enrollment will be refunded.
Cancellations, Rescheduling & Makeup Lessons
Lessons cannot be cancelled, and cannot be refunded. One lesson per month may be rescheduled, given 48 hours notice by email or text message. This reschedule cannot be guaranteed, and is subject to the teacher's availability. Any rescheduled or makeup lesson must be completed within 30 days of the original scheduled lesson date, whether requested by the student or caused by the teacher; the student is responsible for selecting an available makeup time and completing it within that window, or the opportunity expires. Once a replacement lesson time is agreed upon, the student cannot reschedule it again; if the student cannot attend, the lesson is forfeited and cannot be refunded, credited, or rescheduled again. If the teacher subsequently cannot provide the agreed-upon replacement lesson, the teacher remains responsible for arranging another makeup.
If a student is sick, or has a sudden emergency and cannot know of the cancellation 48 hours prior to the lesson, a reschedule can be made once every 3 months (subject to availability). If the lesson cannot be rescheduled, the teacher will send any necessary lesson materials by email to keep the student on track.
If the teacher has to cancel a lesson (which is almost never), the teacher will offer up to 3 different reschedule times.
Planned Travel and Lesson Rescheduling
Students enrolled in recurring weekly lessons may request rescheduling for up to two planned travel periods per rolling 12-month period, with each period covering a maximum of two consecutive regularly scheduled lessons.
Requests must be submitted by email or text message at least seven calendar days before the first affected lesson. Each rescheduled travel lesson counts as that month’s reschedule under the standard rescheduling policy. Lessons beyond the two covered by a travel period are subject to the standard rescheduling policy.
Eligible lessons may be rescheduled within 30 days before or after their original dates, subject to mutually available teaching times. Makeup lessons may be scheduled during the same week as another regular lesson.
Monthly tuition remains unchanged during planned travel. Travel-related absences do not result in tuition reductions, credits, or refunds.
Unused makeup opportunities expire after the applicable rescheduling window. Additional arrangements may be approved at the teacher’s discretion.
Lesson Conduct & Expectations
Jamsville Guitar Studio reserves the right to end a lesson immediately if a student’s behavior, condition, or conduct is disruptive, inappropriate, unsafe, or otherwise prevents the lesson from being conducted appropriately. A lesson ended for these reasons will be considered forfeited and will not be refunded, credited, or rescheduled. When necessary, the Studio may also discontinue the student’s enrollment.
The student is expected to bring their own guitar (properly functioning), picks, tuner, and notebook/binder to keep lesson materials organized in.
It may be necessary and/or appropriate for the student to buy a book, or some other lesson materials (although I usually use materials that I created.) In this case, I will give you my suggestions as to where to buy these materials for the best price.
If there is inclement weather preventing travel, we will have our lesson online over zoom.
Punctuality & In-Home Lessons
Punctuality is very important. Please call if you are going to be more than 5 minutes late for a lesson. If you are late for a lesson, that is time that you will forfeit. This time cannot be rescheduled or refunded. If you are more than 15 minutes late without any contact, that lesson will be considered a no show and therefore forfeited.
For in-home lessons, the teacher’s arrival time may vary by up to 10 minutes before or after the agreed start time due to travel, traffic, or other timing factors. This arrival window is considered part of the normal in-home arrangement and does not require the lesson to extend beyond its planned end time. The teacher will make reasonable efforts to provide the full 55-minute lesson when possible without delaying subsequent students.
For in-home lessons, the student is responsible for providing a reasonably safe, accessible, and distraction-free environment suitable for instruction, including timely access to the lesson location. This includes appropriately managing pets, household members, noise, access instructions, and other conditions that may interfere with the lesson. If the teacher determines that the environment is unsafe, inappropriate, excessively disruptive, inaccessible, or otherwise unsuitable for instruction, the teacher may delay, modify, or end the lesson. If the teacher cannot access the lesson location and the student has not made contact within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, the lesson will be considered a no-show and the teacher may leave. If access is delayed or the lesson is disrupted due to conditions at the student’s location, the resulting lesson time is forfeited and will not be refunded, credited, extended, or rescheduled.
You may arrive up to 5 minutes early, but you may be asked to wait as another lesson may be taking place.
Lesson Recordings
Lessons may be audio recorded so you can listen back to them. Recordings and transcripts are only shared with you (and your parent or guardian) through your private Lesson Library. You can ask me to stop recording or delete a recording at any time.
Policy Updates
Studio policies may be updated from time to time. Students will be provided written notice of any material changes before those changes take effect. Continued enrollment after the effective date of a notified policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated studio policies. Changes to tuition will be made in accordance with the tuition-adjustment policy above.
